Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race

Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race

One of the most exciting events in Tasmania on Christmas and New Year vacation is Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. The 72nd racing tournament will start on December 26, 2017 - the Boxing day.

The competition yachts will leave Sydney Harbor from Nielson Park, racing more 100 km and then arrive in Hobart Tasmania in time  for 2018 New Years Eve Celebrations.

According to Wikipedia, the race was initially planned to be a cruise by Peter Luke and some friends who had formed a club for those who enjoyed cruising as opposed to racing, however when a visiting British Royal Navy Officer, Captain John Illingworth, suggested it be made a race, the tournament was created.

Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race is considered as the most difficult yacht race in the world. And this has been a tradition of Sydney during Christmas and Boxing day. Most people avoid missing the event.

Recently, The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, the organising authority for the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, has announced the release of the Notice of Race - the 70th edition in 2014- and now invites eligible yacht owners to enter the blue water classic.

If you are planning to join the event on next coming Christmas in Sydney, book now your air tickets, hotels and vantage points for the best experiences with Sydney Hobart Race. Enjoy your holidays in Tasmania island with the finish of this yacht race in Hobart city.
